Race Details

How long is the race?
The Louisville Pure Tap® 5K is a 3.1-mile race.

What time does the race start?
The race begins at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Is there a participant cap?
Yes. Registration is limited to the first 750 participants.

Are walkers allowed?
Yes, walkers are welcome to participate.

What time does the finish line close?
The finish line will close at 9:45 a.m.

 
Course & Location

Where are the start and finish lines located?
The start and finish lines are located at the Louisville Water Tower, 3005 River Road.

Will there be water available on the course?
Yes. One water station will be available along the course at the eastern entrance to Thurman Hutchins Park. Participants may also bring their own water bottles.

Are restrooms available on the course?
Portable restrooms will be available at the start/finish line and at the water station. Restrooms inside the WaterWorks Museum will not be open to race participants.

 
Registration & Packet Pickup

When is the last day to register?
Online registration closes on August 22, 2025, or when the race reaches capacity.
On-site registration will be available at packet pickup and on race day for $45 (cash or credit card accepted).

Do you offer a military or first responder discount?
Yes. Active U.S. military members, veterans, and first responders—including medical professionals—receive a 10% discount. Email proof of service to info@louisvillesports.org to receive a discount code.

Can someone else pick up my race packet for me?
Yes. They will need either a copy of your registration confirmation or a photocopy of your ID.

 
Participant Guidelines

Are headphones or personal music devices allowed?
Yes. Headphones and personal music devices are permitted; however, participants are asked to keep the volume at a reasonable level for safety and courtesy. You should be able to hear nearby participants and volunteers.

Are strollers allowed?
Yes. Strollers are permitted, but participants using strollers will be asked to start at the back of the starting chute for safety reasons.

What types of wheelchairs are allowed?
Push-rim wheelchairs are the only style permitted. The top male and female wheelchair finishers will be recognized.

 
Dogs on the Course

How do I register my dog?
You may add your dog during the registration process for an additional $10, which benefits Friends of Metro Animal Services.

A waiver confirming current vaccinations must be signed at packet pickup or on race morning. All dogs must be leashed.

 
Race Day Information

What is the typical temperature in August?
Based on historical averages from weather.com, the average high is 88°F and the average low is 66°F.

Where should I park?
Weather permitting, parking is available on the lawn at the Louisville Water Tower near the start/finish area. Parking attendants will direct you.

Additional parking is available east of the Water Tower at Cox’s Park, Thurman Hutchins Park, and the former River Road Country Club on Zorn Avenue.

What streets will be closed?
River Road (Zorn Avenue to Indian Hills Trail): 8:15 a.m.–10 a.m.
 
Participant Perks

What do participants receive?
All participants will receive a short-sleeve Louisville Pure Tap® 5K race shirt and a custom finisher medal. Participants will also receive Pure Tap® water, Powerade, bananas, and trail mix.

The first dog to cross the finish line will receive a special award basket.

 
Timing, Results & Policies

Do I need to return my timing chip?
No. Disposable timing chips will be used and do not need to be returned.

How can I find my race results?
Results will be posted on PureTap5K.com immediately following the race.

What is the cancellation policy?
All registrations are non-refundable.
